Steffi advises shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and their insurers on a broad range of dry and wet shipping disputes.
She has over a decade of experience in the shipping sector having trained and practised at the London and Piraeus offices of a leading international shipping law firm.
She is regularly involved in high-value LMAA and ad hoc arbitrations, litigation before the English Court and mediations in connection with charterparty, MOA, cargo, casualty and other maritime disputes, often across multiple jurisdictions.
Steffi is a solicitor qualified in England & Wales, and is fluent in English and Greek. She also speaks conversational French.
RECENT EXPERIENCE:
- Acting for the successful applicant in an application for an anti-suit injunction in the context of a collision which took place in Bangladesh (Seniority Shipping Corporation S.A. v. City Seed Crushing Industries Ltd, [2019] EWHC 3541 (Comm));
- Acting for the successful applicant in an application to lift a freezing order obtained in support of an alleged misdelivery claim (Fimbank Plc v. Discover Investment Corp, [2020] EWHC 254 (Comm));
- Acted for bulker owners in relation to cargo damage claims brought by receivers due to water ingress in the holds and subsequently in connection with ICA recovery action by the vessel owners against charterers;
- Acted for a yard in relation to claims by the owner for losses incurred due to yacht not being refitted according to specification;
- Acted for disponent owners in relation to claims up and down the charter chain for loss of time arising from a malfunction of the vessel’s ballast water treatment system;
- Acted for vessel owners in relation to claims for off hire and damages due to ice damage to the vessel’s propeller.
